On Saturday we went to Prahran Market, where we had the best and freshest mussels we've ever had (the food truck gets the mussels from its own mussel farm...so plump and GOOD!!!!). Then we wandered down Chapel and Greville Streets. We met one of the nicest coffee shop owners at a place called Husband, where we also learned that minimum wage is $16/hr in Australia! (Carlos will admit that not all Australians are assholes).
On Sunday, which happened to be Australia Day, we really enjoyed strolling through Abbotsford Convent, which, as the name might suggest, was a convent and now houses art classes, workshops, cafes. It's also a great place for a picnic and strolling around was really relaxing on such a hot, sunny day. Carlos astutely observed that the grounds of the former convent seem to be a good date place now. Who knows, maybe back then too. :p
We also walked over to the Collingswood neighborhood for Gelato Messina--apple pie gelato for Carlos and coconut gelato for Bethany. Yum yum. And then for good measure, on the way back to Cater and Shodai's place, we stopped by Victoria Street to pick up some Vietnamese for dinner. Yum, though right now, nothing is beating that pho from Sydney any time soon.
And since we are in fat kid territory, this post seems like a good time to rank our favorite foods during this stay in Australia:
1. Pho at PhD Pho (Sydney)
2. Mussels at Prahran Market (Melbourne)
3. Greek food in Outleigh (Melbourne)
4. Curry beef pie and tandori chicken pie from Pie in the Sky (Olinda)
5. Ubiquitous good coffee was also a highlight.

We will forever be comparing all mussels to these ones.
