We found Christmas in Japan! Not the same Christmas, but still a festive one. We went to Osaka from Wednesday afternoon to Friday morning so Carlos could do aikido at his old dojo. We stayed at the Miyako Hotel in Tennoji on some Japanese Priceline-type deal. Carlos showed me the Starbucks where he studied for the bar during the first month when he was also doing aikido. The horror.
Anyways, Christmas! I had heard that Osaka people are much more gregarious than Tokyo people and I think it translates into their celebration of holidays that aren't even native to this country. Christmas music everywhere. Decorations that are all over the place and don't seem forced or the same. A few random people dressed in Santa suits walking around (some naughty, some not--Carlos dared Bethany to ask the naughty Santa for a photo with Simba, who sadly was just falling asleep, so we refrained from being juveniles). So...it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Fittingly, Simba's favorite song right now is Frosty the Snowman, even though I keep messing up the lyrics.
B really wanted to get one of those little hats for Simba, but Carlos the grinch told her not to.
That clown in the background on the right is a famous sight on Doutonbori Street.

Everything is interesting to Simba, even at Starbucks (which had a marron pie latte in Japan).
